E27 LEDs in many shapes and sizes

These LEDs are used in the private sector as well as outdoors and in workplace light fixtures. Due to the many shapes and sizes in which E27 LEDs are available, the length and diameter of the individual LEDs are decisive in determining whether they are suitable for the corresponding LED lamp with E27 socket. Next to E14 lamps, the E27 socket is the most commonly used socket for illuminants in households. The E27 socket is one of the two standard sockets of incandescent lamps. The other is the E14 socket. The number 27 indicates the diameter of the socket, in this case 27 millimetres.

Use of E27 LEDs

LEDs are ideal for use in smart home systems. However, not all models are suitable for the smart home. In the case of LED illuminants, the specified power in watts has only limited significance in terms of the brightness that they emit. The lumen value, a unit of measure for luminosity, is more significant. Comparative values with conventional performance data are often given on the packaging and in shops to make the selection easier. Compared to energy-saving lamps, LEDs have the great advantage of emitting their full luminosity immediately and without a warm-up period. Osram and Philips are among the most popular brands and the illuminants are available in all common variants, such as bulb shape and drop shape.

A one-to-one replacement of the LED lamp with the E27 socket is possible. The illuminant hardly heats up and can be used with almost all electrical equipment, such as dimmers, without any further restrictions or technical aids.
