Fluorescent lamps G5 socket
Fluorescent lamps G5 socket
The LED fluorescent tube G5 is a power-saving alternative for the old fluorescent tubes or neon tubes. These LED tubes can be operated directly with an electronic ballast unit, which is installed in many sockets of fluorescent lamps or neon tubes. Very often, G5 fluorescent lamps are used as a light source for illuminated advertising installations and neon signs. In addition to industrial and commercial applications, they are also used in private spaces - for example in pendant lamps in kitchens or for various living room or hallway lamps. G5 fluorescent tubes usually require a suitable ballast unit, which is often in-built. An electronic ballast unit ensures a flicker-free start for fluorescent tubes such as the G5 fluorescent tube and thus extends their service life.
LED fluorescent tube socket G5 - low-pressure gas discharge lamps
G5 fluorescent tubes are also commonly called fluorescent lamps. The fluorescent tubes with G5 socket belong to the category of the so-called low-pressure gas discharge lamps. Inside the tube, there is a fluorescent coating; the glass tubes contain mercury and an inert gas. The fluorescent tube is activated by a mercury vapour discharge in the tube wall of the G5 fluorescent tube, approximately at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius or higher. Under a certain pressure, an inert gas - often argon or krypton - serves as a lighter ignition so that the electrodes at the ends of the G5 fluorescent tube are energised. As a result, the mercury vapour spreads UV radiation when it is discharged. Different colour variations can be achieved depending on the fluorescent mixture.
